Been talking about this since laast year, but Jazz Fest has now arrived. I mean THE Jazz Fest, of course. New Orleans is rising like a phoenix and Jazz Fest is the best way to showcase it. You are either there or missing everything under the sun. Being at Jazz Fest is awesome. Missing it is sort of like being dead… just not as fun.
However, you are in luck beecause this is a week long extravaganza. There is still time to catch amazing live performances of your favorite musicians and chow down on some smokin’ cajun foods.
A small list of cool hot performers you are missing:
Fats Domino, Bruce Springsteen with the Seeger Sessions Band, Jimmy Buffett, Dave Matthews Band, Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Lionel Richie, Keith Urban (by the way I saw him this morning on CNN and I have profound new respect for the man and what he has done to help New Orleans, such as featuring and sponsdoring displaced choirs there in his work), Yolanda Adams, Herbie Hancock, La India, The Meters, Allen Toussaint w/ Elvis Costello, Etta James, Dr. John, The Ohio Players, Irma Thomas, Ani DiFranco, Keb’ Mo’, Hugh Masekela, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Koko Taylor, Pete Fountain, Doug Kershaw, Little Feat, Bishop Paul S. Morton, Sr., The Radiators, Sam Moore, Doug E. Fresh & Slick Rick, Warren Haynes, Angelique Kidjo, Yerba Buena, Chris Owens,Irvin Mayfield, Buckwheat Zydeco, Galactic, Deacon John, Rebirth Brass Band, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Donald Harrison w/ Eddie Palmieri, Snooks Eaglin,Cowboy Mouth, Clarence “Frogman†Henry, Kermit Ruffins, Roland Guerin w/ Marcus Roberts, Sonny Landreth, Walter “Wolfman†Washington, Terence Blanchard, the subdudes, Ellis Marsalis w/ Lew Tabackin, Nicholas Payton, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and many, many more
Check out NOJazzFest.com or NewOrleans.com for more information. But you better hurry up. Because after they pinch the tail and suck the head, the fun’s done gone!
Bring on that old Blackened Voodoo Lager and all the Trouble! Buck’s Goin’ Downtown huntin’ some Hot Tamale Baby! Not to worry, though, because I’m Gonna Love You Anyway. Or, in other words, it’s time for some Buckwheat Zydeco.
