Sherlock Meets Cthulhu

Recently had an absolute blast writing a new Sherlock Holmes tale. The project required a horror tinge, so I got to blend Sherlock’s universe with Lovecraft’s Cthulhu mythos. Very eerie, yet very fun!

The side benefit to researching this project was that I reread the entire corpus of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes stories for the first time since high school. I had read them way back in the 1980s, but since then I had only read a sporadic solitary tale here or there. I reread the entire collected works cover-to-cover to pick up the flavor of his Edwardian world and the nuances of the characters. What a great refresher! It was utterly different to read these through an adult prism and discover things I had missed twenty-five years ago.

There is one last side-effect: Now, having thoroughly enjoyed my reintroduction to Holmes & Watson’s world, I am considering writing many more Sherlock tales and/or a Sherlock novel or two. The mysteries have only just begun and clues are piling up. The hunt is on!
