I Have Loved a River

I loved a river
And she was wild
Untamed and flowing
Churning, chaotic

I went over the top and fell
Was tumbled and beaten
Half to death, broken
Nearly drowned in her depths

But I have never lived
More fully, completely
And I would take the plunge
Again and again and again
