The Guardians is a team of superheroes. They are headquartered in New York City on modern day earth. They were officially founded in 1973.
The Guardians are set in my primary heroverse, on an Earth in modern times, though due to their time-/space-/dimensional-travels this also coincides with my future UIIverse. They are my oldest team and thus these writings concern the oldest characters I have on this site. These characters came from years of reading comic books and playing superheroes with my brother in the early 1970s . They also appear in my very earliest writings in elementary school.
The Guardians headquarters is a mansion on Central Park in New York City. It is somewhat famous, as home to the world’s premiere superhero team, but also because it has some unusual properties. Due to the Voyager’s ability to manipulate time and space, the mansion technically exists in a pocket dimension. That is, it is far larger on the inside than the outside of the building might suggest. Over time and due to the nature of their many missions, it has also become a repository for extremely powerful artifacts and dangerous weapons.
Though the roster has varied over the years, some of the principle team members of the Guardians include:
- The Voyager
- Ihten Uled
- The Werewolf
- The Pirate
There are several recurrent supporting characters, such as the butler of the Guardians, who is the custodian of their mansion. The Butler is undead, which is convenient seeing as how many times he has opened the door onto lethal attacks and deadly danger. Also, some members of the team have retired from active duty, yet remain associated. For example, the Werewolf retired after the first decade and became the chief medical doctor to the team.
The superhero team the Champions was founded by the son of Hercules, Hercules, Jr., and has a long standing close association with the Guardians. They have often collaborated on missions.
Some notable villains include:
- Dark Valor
- Gary Justice
For a taste of the action, here is an excerpt from a serialized story from the 1980s:
